USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor
Visitors must obtain free walk-in or reserve tickets for the scheduled program that includes a 25-minute documentary at the PHVC theater on the Pearl Harbor attack, and Navy-operated harbor tour of Battleship Row and the area around the USS Arizona Memorial.
The Pacific Fleet Submarine Museum at Pearl Harbor
Launched on December 7, 1942, USS Bowfin (SS-287) is a WWII submarine that earned the nickname “Pearl Harbor Avenger.” Bowfin completed nine war patrols and claimed the sinking of 44 vessels. After touring the submarine, explore the museum and exhibits that include a Japanese manned torpedo.
USS Battleship Missouri
Joining the USS Arizona Memorial on Battleship Row in 1998, the “Mighty Mo” is the last and most celebrated battleship ever built. It’s also the last to be decommissioned. Launched in 1944, the 887-ft. Iowa-class vessel’s astounding career spanned five decades and three wars–WWII, Korea and Operation Desert Storm.
Pearl Harbor Aviation Museum
Located on Ford Island, this National Historic Landmark and Affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution is the site of our nation’s only aviation battlefield. Hangar 37 includes a 1942 Japanese Zero, F4F Wildcat, SBD Dauntless dive bomber and 1942 Stearman Biplane piloted by former President George W.H. Bush during WWII.
US Army Museum of Hawaii
This Fort DeRussy landmark steps as far back as Hawaii’s warring tribes united by King Kamehameha. Every conflict in which Hawaii’s military participated is displayed via photographs and sound effects “taking you into the action.” With free admission (donations welcomed!), the museum is open 1000-1700 Tuesday through Saturday.
Tropic Lightning Museum at Schofield Barracks
The mission is to collect, preserve, interpret and exhibit memorabilia which reflects the history of the 25th Infantry Division. In addition to early Schofield & Wheeler history, the museum covers WWI, Korea and Vietnam.
